Founder and Musical Director
Sheila Dursley
Sheila has been the Musical Director of Cantilena Voices since 2016 and continues to show endless energy and enthusiasm now in her 7th year. Sheila is multi-talented: not only is she a brilliant conductor, but she sources fabulous music for us to sing, organises several events throughout the year, liaises with local good causes, among many other things that go on behind the scenes! Her love of choirs began at an early age under the watchful eye of church organist and master of the choristers, David Jackson. Studying clarinet and piano with Mark Walton and Tim Arnold at the University of Chichester, Sheila has enjoyed a career in teaching music and leading choirs in schools and communities along the south coast.
Accompanist
Sue Stein
Sue is our extremely talented accompanist. We often say the choir wouldn't be what it is today without her - and it's true! She is the sounding-board for all decisions related to repertoire and concert venues and joined the choir family with Sheila in 2016. Her talents as a pianist and musician were honed at Chethams School of Music in Manchester and the Royal College of Music and Sue has had a varied career in education including working for the Inner London Education Authority and as co-ordinator for the Hampshire Music Service. She now lives and works in Wimborne as a musician and accompanist. The Cantilena Voices family have much respect and affection for Sue and wouldn't be the same withou her!
